Almost every weekend, I would train alongside my father who at the time was the “Chief Of Military Operations” at Alpha 66 Training Camp called “RUMBO SUR.” In English, it was called “Camp Due South” and sometimes filled with battle-hardened warriors such as Cuban American Bay of Pig Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans.
These men and women never lost hope in the idea of another American-backed invasion after the Bay of Pigs.
The members were holding themselves in readiness to support an uprising within Cuba. Training included force on force,rifle marksmanship, land navigation, insertions, and extractions by sea.

Early Life
1972-HAVANA, CUBA – I was born (July 1972) in Punta Brava, Cuba; a small suburb located just southwest of Havana, Cuba. I was born to my beloved mother Julia Avila and father Francisco Avila.
1979- MIAMI, FLORIDA – At age 7 (Nov 11,1992) like many other migrants then, my father and mother were ousted from Cuba and we where put on a “freedom flight” which eventually landed at Miami International Airport.
1992- MIAMI, FLORIDA – Age 19 Miami Springs Senior High School. (June 1992)
Weeks after I proudly shipped to Fort Jackson for US ARMY COMBAT TRAINING. Making the decision to contribute what I can to preserve the generations of the future and embody the principles constructed by our Constitution and Declaration of Independence.”
Back Story
1966 – HAVANA, CUBA – At just 20 years old, my father joined the ranks of the anti-communist, anti-Castro guerilla group called “Second National Front of Escambray” backed and trained by the U.S Central Intelligence Agency.
1967- HAVANA, CUBA – In July 1967, having commanded numerous prior missions, the team and he was compromised infiltrating firearms near “Bahia Honda Bay” in westmost Pinar del Rio Providence. As they resisted their arrest, a brief firefight breaks out. Outnumbered by Castro’s Revolutionary Army, they are arrested, and my father was sentenced to 25 years.
1970-HAVANA, CUBA – La Cabaña Fortress Prison – As fate would have it, during trips to visit her brother Angel (also a political prisoner), my mother Julia would end up marrying my father Francisco.

Instructor-led training takes place in a traditional classroom and field setting. This course can be completed in a single day with smaller blocks of instruction. Course topics include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition awareness and selection, handgun selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, handgun inspection and maintenance, marksmanship and shooting range safety.
